| We have a number of ways that
you can gain valuable experience after your training with
the Reiki Center of Greater Washington. All of these begin
after you have completed a second-level course (either Usui
Reiki II or Sekhem-Seichim-Reiki II).
You begin as a Student
Assistant, helping in classes of the type
that you are planning to eventually teach. The assisting usually
involves setting and cleaning up before and after classes,
reviewing the classes in the lecture and hands-on periods,
helping to create a supportive environment for the students
by bringing them water or tissues, etc. RCGW provides a credit
of $25 towards the Master training for each Assistant (with
a maximum of six class days). We encourage prospective Master
students to assist at classes before beginning their Master
studies.
Twice a year (or as Interns complete their respective
Internships), RCGW invites applicants to its Internship
Practitioner program. The Internship program
is for those students who believe that they want to become
professional practitioners. It provides the opportunity for
Interns to practice healing with a professional healer at
RCGW one day per week. Over the course of a number of months,
the Intern participates in a minimum of 44 documented hands-on
sessions at the center or a program sponsored by the center
AND 44 documented distant healing sessions. These sessions
vary in length between 30 and 120 minutes. The Intern documents
the session and discusses it with the practitioner with whom
he or she is working. At the satisfactory conclusion of the
program, the Intern discusses his or her experiences with
the Director of the center and becomes eligible to be a practitioner
at the center, subject to RCGW policies and available space.
Internship Practitioners are required to schedule a minimum
of one paid session with an RCGW practitioner each month.
Internship Practitioner applicants are
encouraged to have completed the following before applying:
- Usui Reiki I training
- Usui Reiki II training
- Sekhem-Seichim-Reiki I-II training
- Master-level training in either Usui Reiki
or Sekhem-Seichim-Reiki or both
In addition to its Internship Practitioner program,
RCGW also has an Internship
Teacher program. This program provides the
opportunity for Master-level student Interns to co-teach courses
at the center with the RCGW Director. Each Intern is responsible
for observing one course (of each type), co-teaching one course
(of each type), and teaching one course (of each type) with
the RCGW Director observing. At the satisfactory conclusion
of the program, the Intern becomes eligible to teach courses
at the center, subject to RCGW policies and available space.
Internship Teacher applicants are encouraged
to have completed at least two of the following before applying:
- Usui Reiki Master training
- Sekhem-Seichim-Reiki Master training
- Karuna Reiki ® Master training
- Lightarian Reiki ™ training
Internship Teachers are required to schedule
a minimum of one paid session with an RCGW practitioner each
month and to pay food & lodging costs for the Master classes
in which they Intern.
